What is the meaning of ACReSAL?

The acronym “ACReSAL” stands for Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes.

It is a World Bank assisted Project aimed at addressing the challenges of land degradation and climate Change in Northern Nigeria on a multi-dimensional scale.

Our Mission

To address environmental challenges arising from Climate Change and poor land-use practices in Northern Nigeria.

Our Vision

To have strong practices and policies on ecological restoration and a climate change resilient community.

What is the primary objective of ACReSAL Project?

The Project Development Objective (PDO) is to implement sustainable landscape management practices in targeted watersheds in Northern Nigeria and strengthen the enabling environment for integrated climate-resilient landscape management.

Who are the beneficiaries of ACReSAL projects?

The project benefits 3.4 million direct beneficiaries, including vulnerable groups such as women, youth, elderly, persons with disabilities, internally displaced persons, and minorities. Farmers, host communities, and government institutions also benefit from land restoration, food productivity increases, and policy support.

What are the main components of ACReSAL project?

What is the role of partners in ACReSAL implementation?
  • Partners, including Federal and State agencies responsible for environment, agriculture, and water management, play a key role in implementing interventions. Community stakeholders ensure local ownership and sustainability of activities, while the World Bank and Federal Project Management Unit provide technical support.
